What do I need to do to get started?

The first step is to know whether you want to change for the better or help others change for the better. And then sign up either as a client or as a therapist

Can Therapism be an actual substitute for traditional one-to-one therapy in person?

Yes, it definitely can be. Because any successful session largely depends on the competence of the therapist and the willingness of the client. All the therapists registered on the site are certified as well as trained. However, some people may still prefer therapy face-to-face, which is also an option.

Does Therapism include only online therapy?

No, it is much more than that. It includes articles and videos on several important topics regarding mental health. Additionally, it provides self-help tools with detailed instructions. It also has an emergency helpline to assist people 24/7. Furthermore, it allows you to track your progress with a journal and to contribute in return by being part of the social support group

How will I get to choose my therapist?

First of all, after signing up, you will undergo a brief assessment in order to determine the area or problem that you need help with or wish to improve. Then, you will be prompted to identify certain demographic characteristics (such as age range, gender, area expertise etc.) for your therapist. After that, you will be provided with a list of therapists that cater to your specific problem from which you can choose. Or you can opt to let us choose the best fit for you.

How will the online therapy take place?

After you choose the time and day for you session, you will need to sign in at that time and connect with you therapist. The session can take place in three ways: live chatting, audio call and video call. All three will take place through the app, hence not requiring the exchange of contact information and safeguarding your privacy. A day and time will be agreed upon by you and your therapist for carrying out the session in the mode that is comfortable for you.

What if I face a problem with my therapist or I am not satisfied with their services?

At the end of every session, you will be required to provide feedback in order to help us better evaluate if you are satisfied with the sessions or not. In case you find yourself not progressing or you find a problem that is not being resolved, you can opt for “Intervention in Session”. This will prompt us to evaluate the situation with you and your therapist, and try to reach a solution that works best for all, especially you. In case it still doesn’t work out, you can opt for changing your therapist. However, do remember that at times the problems that surface aren’t with therapists themselves, rather a realization of some deep-seated unresolved issue within, that shall be the priority to resolve then.

How do I pay for the sessions?

You can pay with credit card or with the local payment options provided. You can also choose to buy therapy credits in advance which will allow you to use them without having to pay every time

What if I want to go for face-to-face therapy?

You can also opt for face-to-face therapy if you are comfortable with it. It will take place at the Therapism workspace (please check availability)

How do I know that my identity and information will remain private and confidential?

All the communication that takes place between you and your therapist is confidential and shall not be under any circumstance disclosed to a third-party (unless there is danger or threat to client’s or third party’s life). You are not required to provide your real name or contact number. Only an emergency contact will be taken in case of any situation arising that requires immediate reaction, which will be with your consent
